Vocabulary is countable

Most social and emotional programs ask you to take their word for it. This one does not, because the thing it teaches happens to be countable.
Emotional vocabulary can be observed. A teacher writes down the feeling words a child uses unprompted, across a normal week, on a five minute checklist. Three rounds a term. No child is ever quizzed, and no child is ever told they are being measured. The teacher is a birdwatcher with a notebook, not an examiner with a clipboard.
Every child is measured against their own first round, never against the class. A child who joins in week six starts their own baseline in week six. Movement is the result, so a child moving from their first words to their growing words counts exactly as much as a child reaching the expert set.
The pass numbers are agreed before a term starts, not after, and a partner's own curriculum team reviews the raw sheets alongside us.
